DESCRIPTION: EPW - Jules Jürgensen, minute repeater split-seconds chronograph with 60-minute register, 49mm, 18K gold OF original Jules Jürgensen case with five-knuckle hinges, Jürgensen lips, rear shield with initial, signed gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial, SW-bow-set, fully capped lever escapement with counterpoise, likely greater than 30J, wheel satin nickel finish, s#15671 with matching serial number to case. Gross weight of assembled watch 65.6 dwt (102.0 g). Comes as pictured with its original fitted hardwood Jules Jürgensen box which has a sticker to its underside marked with correctly matching serial number and that contains its original certificate with matching serial number that has timing ratings recorded on its rear and is stamped "Grand Prix Paris-1900" to both side, a silk pad marked "Jules Jürgensen Copenhagen" to one side and "Paris Grand Prix 1900" to the other, an instruction card for the bow-setting operation, an extra enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals, two extra crystals and an extra mainspring. In all, a wonderfully complete original set.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone, good primary chronograph and minute register function, inconsistent split-seconds function as several times during testing it operated properly with good reset but more frequently the reset was in error with either full failures to reset or incomplete resets and occasionally engagement of split-seconds caused watch to stop running after a brief time, overhaul needed for split-seconds function, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, spotting to plate surfaces including some fingerprint-type etching to repeat bridge, scattered micro-fine scratches; dial with perimeter fracture between 11 and 12 having very small associated surface flake at 11; "extra" dial with short hls above and below center hole, edge flake at 1, some wispy haze in its surface glaze evident in reflected light; lower sweep-seconds-hand is missing its tail and has a mild bend, upper sweep-seconds-hand with mild bend to its tail, other hands are excellent; case shows hardly any wear, few small scratches, no dents or dings, excellent engine turning detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal with some looseness within bezel; box shows little wear, some typical mild scratches and nicks to its exterior, certificate with two tears at right perimeter.
